TERMS AND CONDITIONS

 

Introduction

Xplore US is a contest for innovative SME’s and Scale-ups organised by RVO and commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In this contest, companies present their business plan and strategy to expand to the US. Companies can only apply through filling in the application form on the website. By sending the application, the participants agree to these terms and conditions.

Application

  1. Application is only possible through the application form on the website https://xploreus.rvo.nl. Only completed application forms will be taken into account for selection.
  2. Entries must be submitted in English.
  3. You can only submit if you are a Dutch company. This means that your company should be registered at the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (Kamer van Koophandel)
  4. The applicants meet the following criteria, which state that the company:
  5. is registered at the Dutch Chamber of Commerce;
  6. has an innovative product or service;
  7. is not necessarily a technology company, but has a technological component;
  8. is already selling products/services on commercial terms, unless it is a life science company and the added value of the Boston programme for your business can clearly be explained;
  9. has revenues from sales, unless it is a life science company;
  10. has attracted no more than € 10 million in total investment;
  11. has a balanced team with scientific, technology and business skills;
  12. has the ambition to expand to the US market and this is shown in the business plan.
  13. The person joining the programme in Boston should be a company decision-maker, who is comfortable with speaking English.
  14. Personal and company data will only be used in regard to this contest. After the programme (until January 2018), the data will be deleted.
  15. Application is open until 7 September 2017, 12:00pm.
  16. Incomplete entries will not be reviewed.
  17. After completing the application, a confirmation e-mail is sent to the applicants.

 

Selection process

  1. Pre-selection is done by RVO. RVO will review whether the submitted forms and business plans are complete. After that, RVO will make a first selection of 20 finalists, based on the criteria mentioned in point 4.
  2. If your application is selected for the finals, you will be asked to confirm your participation. When accepting your spot in the finals you sign up for compulsory attendance on the jury day on 28 September and the full ten-day programme in Boston.
  3. The 20 nominated companies get the chance to prepare their pitch for the jury from 20 September till 27 September.
  4. The jury consists of investors, experienced entrepreneurs and experts. Together with expert advice from kTeams, this jury will select the 10 winners during the pitch finals on 28 September.

Prize

  1. The award consists of a preparation day in the Netherlands, participation in a tailor-made, ten-day accelerator programme in Boston (USA) with kTeams and a follow-up meeting in the Netherlands. The award includes accommodation in Boston and travel from the Netherlands to Boston and back (for one person per company).
  2. For one person per company, the training, flight, accommodation and local travel expenses will be covered. A second person can join the in the Netherlands and in Boston, but will have to pay for his/her flight, accommodation and local travel expenses.

 

Final terms

  1. Decisions made by RVO and the jury are final. Correspondence about the results will not be possibe.
  2. By submitting your application, you give RVO permission to use the information provided by you for the purposes of administering and judging the contest, for any purpose connected to the contest and for promotional purposes. We may share this information with our Jury members, our partners, and anyone who is involved in the contest.
  3. RVO strives to create maximum publicity for the winning teams . Therefore, RVO expects the winning teams to participate in communication during the preparation in the Netherlands, during the programme in Boston and after. The other participants will be asked for their permission to participate in publications. Participants are and will stay owner of their intellectual property.
  4. In cases that are not provided for in these terms and conditions, RVO will decide.
